If left untreated, thromboembolism can result in organ failure or loss of an extremity, with potentionally life threatening consequences, even death.

Catheter Directed Thrombolysis (CDT) is a minimally invasive procedure to re-establish circulation using targeted fibrinolytic therapy, and is versatile to be used in arterial and venous occlusion.

Clot to Clear Flow: Thrombolytic management of peripheral thromboembolic disease and nursing practice, presented by Michael Balladeo from the RBWH (Queensland), explores the role of nurses from occlusion, treatment, post-procedure care, and patient follow-up.
